Lisa grew up in Plymouth and Sheboygan, WI, and quickly developed a deep love of those with Special Needs, growing up with her Aunt Lori (who was only a year and a half older than her). Lisa got into the caretaking field right out of high school working at several local nursing homes. She then had a long career working at RCS in Sheboygan as an activities coordinator. Lisa also provided Respite Care, for individuals with special needs, out of her home for 40 plus years. Lisa left RCS, when she was provided an opportunity to provide a One-on-One Day Service Program for her Aunt Lori, which she did until the birth of CeCe’s Stone Villa. At that time, Lisa became Lori’s primary, live in, 24/7 care giver. Lisa being the Owner/Director of CeCe’s Stone Villa, also continued with providing folks with Respite Care in the available bedrooms of the home, in addition to caring for Lori.
Brett grew up in Oostburg, WI and had a 28-year career as a Manitowoc City Police Officer before retiring three years early to support Lisa in her quest to provide a home for, and take care of Lori. Brett also developed a deep love for Lori, and other folks with Special Needs. Brett serves as the Building and Grounds keeper at CeCe’s Stone Villa, as well as the Office Manager.
Brett and Lisa live on site at CeCe’s Stone Villa, along with their 3-year-old Teddy Bear dog named “Reggie”. Reggie was then joined by "Yogi" the three month old Shih Tzu puppy.
Brett and Lisa also strongly believe that there are no disabilities in this world,
only different levels of ability, and they strive to make all guests feel welcome, special, included, and loved.
CeCe’s Stone Villa is an open concept, newer constructed (2012-2013), approximately 4700 square foot, barrier free, four bedrooms, two and a half bath house, that is set on an approximately one-acre lot near Terry Andrae State Park. The home has a screened in front porch, as well as large front and back yards for outdoor entertainment. The home also has extra wide doorways and hallways necessary for wheelchair accessibility. The home has mobile, as well as ceiling lift systems for wheelchair confined guests, as well as completely barrier free walk in shower and whirlpool jetted soaking bath tub, accessible to all with ceiling lift system. All guest rooms have individual climate control systems as well as in floor heat. The Home also has a warm water, indoor, 28”x16’ therapy/swimming pool, again accessible by all with the deck mounted lift. The Home also has a wheelchair accessible van, to meet everybody’s transportation needs. The main thing that makes CeCe’s Stone Villa unique, other than the above listed amenities, is that the owner lives on site, and also provides the cares needed for each and every guest. This atmosphere provides a Family Type environment, and Brett and Lisa strive for a sense of inclusion for all guests and even include them with their family’s activities.
The Baseball themed room in the Garden View wing, is perfect for any baseball enthusiast. Very
comfortable décor provides a perfect place to relax and spend private time watching television, reading or whatever the guest desires.
The Garden Room is a quiet, flowery decorated room more suitable for female guests to unwind. The soft colors, and flower décor brings the beauty of the flower garden inside. The peaceful tranquil setting makes it easy to relax, and enjoy peace and quiet.
The Bear Room, in the North Woods Wing has an outdoors and bear motif. The décor gives the guest a feel of an escape to the North Woods, for rest and relaxation.
Lisa’s Aunt Lori, who was only a year and a half older than Lisa, and who Brett was Guardian for, had move into Milestones Adult Family Home on April 1, 2014, where she received phenomenal care. On October 28th , 2021, they received notification that Milestones was closing their doors on December 1st , 2021 due to a lack of staffing. Faced with a huge hurdle of finding Lori a place to live, in 33 days, that was going to provide her with same level of care that she had been receiving, as well as the level of care that was expected from Brett and Lisa, they began their search, and brainstorming of ideas. Milestones had opened only about a year prior to Lori moving in, and was a beautiful facility with all the equipment necessary to help in caring for Lori, and others like her. One day, while at work, Brett was thinking what would become of the Milestones building, still faced with the task of finding Lori a place to live, moving forward. Brett called Lisa, and pitched the idea of buying the Milestones building, moving in, making it their home, and taking care of Lori themselves. Brett and Lisa pitched their idea of buying the house to Kelly Jordan, who was the Director of Milestones, and was thrilled with the idea. You see, Kelly was the instrumental cog of the Milestones machine, and she was thrilled that someone wanted to continue on with what the original plan for Milestones was. With the love and support of not only Kelly, Brett and Lisa’s friends & family, and the entirety Milestones Board of
Directors the purchase of the house was finalized on May 31st , 2022. Brett and Lisa decided that if this endeavor that they were taking on was going to be their “next chapter”, then it needed to be a business, and that business needed a name. When Lisa and Lori were growing up, Lori had a hard time saying Lisa, so, she called Lisa CeCe. Lisa and Brett knew that without Milestones, they would not have been blessed the opportunity they were afforded, so they knew that they wanted to keep part of the Milestones name. The Milestones building, was also a large, beautiful
country home. This is how and where the CeCe’s Stone Villa story begins.
The home also has an indoor, 28’x16’ warm water (93 degrees) therapy/swimming pool available to all appropriate guest and residents. The pool is accessible by all, as it also has a deck mounted lift system. The pool area is decorated with tropical type foliage, along with sitting area for the “resort” type
atmosphere. The pool can provide the obvious entertainment and fun, but can also offer health benefits such as reducing pain, muscle relaxation, improved circulation, increased flexibility, enhanced balance, and stress relief. The pool also has a computer controlled mechanical system that automatically tests and maintains chemical and PH levels of the water to keep it comfortable and safe.
We understand the importance of having your own space, but sometimes time is spent better
together. We pride ourselves on providing choice and options from the food we eat to the space
we share. CeCe’s Stone Villa has a Family Room were residents can congregate and watch TV
or converse together, as well as a quiet Living Room were folks can read a book, or have a
quiet conversation with others with minimal distraction.
At CeCe’s Stone Villa, we offer three meals a day, and the very large, spacious dining room table that offers plenty of space to enjoy those meals in a family type atmosphere. This room also hosts many activities such as arts and crafts, games, puzzles, and turns out to be the gathering place during family and social get together.
It is important to have consistency and we offer a posted supper meal menu every week. The posted Menu Board lets a guest know what they can look forward to, or provides them time to formulate a plan to politely ask Lisa for an alternative, as the posted item my not appeal to their taste pallet. These menu items are not set in stone, and we often make accommodations to fit everyone’s tastes. The posted weekly menu board also assists Lisa in planning trips to the Grocery Store, and what she needs to get for the upcoming week.
At CeCe’s Stone Villa, we have a Coffee Bar/Refreshment center that residents and guests can help themselves to. Whether it will be a cup of hot coffee or tea, bottled water, soda, ice tea, or whatever their preference would be.
